Frequently Asked Questions About Sex Coaching

Have questions about sex coaching, intimacy coaching, or working with Sissy Chacon? Here are some of the most common questions people ask before booking a session.

What happens in a sex coaching session?

Sex coaching sessions are talk-based, collaborative, and goal-oriented. We focus on what is happening now, what you want to change, and what may help you move forward at a pace that feels safe, grounded, and realistic.

Together, we identify patterns, blocks, questions, and goals around intimacy, desire, communication, confidence, pleasure, or relationships. I ask thoughtful, open-ended questions and offer tools, guidance, and perspective that align with your values and desired results.

How long is a session?

Individual sex coaching sessions are 60 minutes.

Couples sex coaching sessions are up to 90 minutes.

How often do clients typically meet?

The rhythm depends on your needs, goals, availability, and any between-session work we decide on together. Some clients meet weekly, while others prefer a slower pace. We will find a schedule that makes sense for you.

Is coaching done in person or online?

All sessions are currently held online over Zoom, so you can join from a private space where you feel comfortable.

What does the first session look like?

The first session takes place after a discovery call, where we review your concerns and goals and make sure working together feels like a good fit.

In the first session, we clarify what you want to focus on. I ask open-ended questions and use the VIBES model to explore what may be happening in your mind, emotions, body and behaviors, energy, and spirit. From there, we identify patterns or blocks, explore possibilities, and begin creating next steps.

Do sessions involve physical touch or sexual activity?

No. Sex coaching sessions are talk-only. There is no physical touch or sexual activity involved.

Is sex coaching confidential?

Yes. What you share in session is confidential.

Will anyone know I am working with a sex coach?

Only if you choose to tell them.

What is the difference between sex coaching and sex therapy?

Sex coaching is different from sex therapy. Sex coaches do not diagnose or treat mental health conditions, and sex coaching is not trauma therapy or psychotherapy.

Coaching is goal-focused and action-oriented. It emphasizes clarity, communication, skills, self-understanding, and forward movement rather than deep clinical analysis of the past. I work from a non-hierarchical model, meaning you are the expert on your lived experience, and we work together as a team.

Sex coaching can also take place alongside therapy, medical care, or other support systems.

What kinds of topics can I bring to a session?

Clients bring a wide range of concerns and goals to sex and intimacy coaching, including:

  • Low libido

  • Erectile difficulties

  • Orgasm difficulties

  • Body image issues

  • Uneven desire in relationships

  • Little or no sex in a relationship

  • Pain or discomfort around sex

  • Communicating desires and needs

  • Building confidence around intimacy

  • Exploring pleasure

  • Navigating changes in a long-term partnership

  • Kink, BDSM, or non-monogamy questions

  • Dating, self-trust, and sexual self-understanding

Are there things you do not work on?

I do not treat trauma or provide psychotherapy. If trauma comes up, we can stay focused on present-day goals, and I may suggest working with a therapist or medical professional alongside coaching when appropriate.

How do you maintain professional and emotional boundaries?

I offer a professional, respectful, and nonjudgmental space. I have expansive values, attitudes, and beliefs around sexuality, and I will respect yours.

I have completed Sexual Attitude Reassessment training, which means nothing you share will be met with shock or judgment. Confidentiality, consent, and clear boundaries are part of what make this work feel safe.

Who is sex coaching for?

Sex coaching is for anyone seeking support around intimacy, desire, communication, pleasure, relationships, or sexual self-understanding. You can be single, dating, partnered, married, queer, straight, monogamous, non-monogamous, curious, experienced, or unsure where to begin.

Do I need to be in a relationship to work with you?

No. I work with both individuals and couples.

Can sex coaching help if my issue is not “sexual” but keeps showing up in intimacy?

Yes. Many people notice patterns around communication, self-trust, confidence, shame, boundaries, or emotional availability showing up in their intimate lives.

Sex coaching can help you explore those patterns and understand how they may be affecting connection, desire, pleasure, or closeness.

What if I feel embarrassed, shy, or unsure what to say?

That is very common. You do not need to know exactly how to explain everything before you begin. We will go at your pace and work within your comfort level.

What if I do not know exactly what I want yet?

That is okay. Not knowing can be part of the process. Coaching can help you create language, clarity, and direction around what you are feeling, wanting, or questioning.

What kinds of changes do clients typically experience?

Every client is different. Some people experience a moment of clarity around a pattern or block. Others begin to feel more confident communicating, asking for what they want, setting boundaries, or understanding their own desire and pleasure more clearly.

The work is not about forcing a specific outcome. It is about creating meaningful, grounded shifts over time.

How long does it usually take to see results?

It depends on the person and the goal. Some clients notice changes quickly, while others choose ongoing sessions to build on progress and integrate what they are learning.

Is sex coaching more about mindset, communication, or practical tools?

All of the above. Sex coaching is a holistic practice that can include awareness, communication, embodiment, self-reflection, emotional honesty, and practical strategies.

Will you tell me what to do, or is this more exploratory?

We work collaboratively. I offer guidance, tools, and perspective, and together we decide what plan of action feels most aligned, realistic, and supportive for you.

What if I feel emotional during a session?

Emotions can come up, and that is okay. We stay grounded and focused on what is most useful for you. I hold a steady, supportive space so you can feel what is present without losing sight of your intention.

Is this trauma therapy?

No. Sex coaching is not trauma therapy. If therapy would be supportive alongside coaching, I can help you find appropriate referrals.

What if I have had past sexual experiences that were confusing or painful?

You are not alone. Coaching can help you orient toward the present and focus on where you want to go next. If deeper trauma work is needed, I may recommend working with a qualified therapist alongside coaching.

How do you make sessions feel safe and nonjudgmental?

I lead with respect, curiosity, and care. You will not be judged, pressured, or pushed. The goal is to create a space where you can speak honestly, explore what matters to you, and move at a pace that feels right.

What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?

I require 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. Sessions canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice may be charged 50% of the session fee, except in extraordinary circumstances. If I need to reschedule, I will aim to give the same notice.

Do you offer packages or ongoing support?

Yes. I offer packages of 3, 7, and 12 sessions. I will also be offering single sessions using a body-based technique called Personal Geometry.

Do you work with all genders and sexual orientations?

Yes. I work with people of all genders and sexual orientations. My practice is grounded in respect for gender, sexual, and relationship diversity, as well as the universal human experiences of desire, safety, connection, and growth.

Is sex coaching covered by insurance?

No. Sex coaching is not covered by insurance.
